Missouri State Audit of Gasconade County Financial Statements Now Posted On Auditor's Website

Finally, the long-awaited Missouri state audit report of Gasconade County financial statements has been posted at the Missouri State Auditor's website.  You can link to the report by clicking on the following URL:  http://auditor.mo.gov/press/2010-137.pdf.

The cover letter from Missouri State Auditor Susan Montee, reads as follows:

To the County Commission and
Officeholders of Gasconade County, Missouri:

The Office of the State Auditor is responsible under Section 29.230, RSMo, for auditing certain operations of Gasconade County, and issues a separate report on that audit. In addition, the Office of the
State Auditor has contracted for an audit of the county’s financial statements for the 2 years ended
December 31, 2009, through the state Office of Administration, Division of Purchasing and Materials
Management. A copy of this audit, performed by Casey-Beard-Boehmer PC, Certified Public Accountants, is attached.

Susan Montee, JD, CPA
State Auditor

A hard copy of the audit report was available to county officeholders just one week prior to the November 2nd general election.  Unfortunately, the county officeholders did not widely broadcast the results.  Did you see them publish the report in either The Hermann Advertiser-Courier or The Gasconade County Republican?  No you didn't!  Did you see any coverage on CNL?  No you didn't!  And let me tell you the reasons you haven't seen any coverage about the recently concluded state audit of the Gasconade County financial statements:  (1) none of the officeholders are especially proud of the audit findings and the deficiencies noted for their areas of responsibility and will therefore not be discussing the results in an open public meeting and (2) the news media in Gasconade County is not particularly aggressive in terms of investigating things that really matter like the job performance of our elected county officials!

So, comes now Hermann Hearsay, a poorly funded, lowly news blog, to finally inform the citizens of Gasconade County.  You should have had this important information prior to your vote in the general election on November 2nd, but it was difficult to reproduce 34 pages of the audit at this site.  I chose to wait until the audit report was public knowledge, i.e. officially posted to the public on the Missouri State Auditor's website.  Now you can just click on the link published above and read the audit for yourselves.

If you will take the time to read the 34 pages of this audit, you will conclude that we need to make changes in Gasconade County!  Mind you that similar deficiencies have been noted in prior audits.  If you want to do some independent research, pull up the audits for 2002 and 2006.

With his lush, sophisticated, instrumental, approach to pop music, Richard Clayderman (born: Phillipe Pages) is, according to The Guinness Book of World Records, "the most successful pianist in the world." Clayderman's albums routinely sell millions of copies and his concerts are quickly sold out. In a review of his 1985 Carnegie Hall concert, Variety wrote, "(Clayderman's) main appeal lies in his youth and boyish good looks...coupled with his gentlemanly charm and his thick French accent, they promise to rope in the romantically inclined middle-aged Yank ladies who cotton to this ilk of soothing entertainment." Nancy Reagan referred to Clayderman as "the prince of romance." Instructed in classical piano by his father, Clayderman enrolled in the Paris Conservatory of Music at the age of twelve. Four years later, he placed first in a piano competition at the school. Despite his classical background, Clayderman opted for popular music when he launched his professional career. A tour as opening act for French rock musician Johnny Hollyday introduced him to an international following. Clayderman's debut album, Ballade Pour Adeline, recorded at the urging of producers and composers Oliver Toussaint and Paul De Senneville in 1977, sold more than twenty million copies and was distributed in 38 countries. Clayderman, who took his stage name from his Swedish grandmother, has continued to tour throughout the world to enthusiastic audiences. A live concert, broadcast on Chinese television in 1987 attracted more than 800 million viewers. ~ Craig Harris, All Music Guide

Editorial Comment: Hermann Hearsay's Comment Policy

Since Hermann Hearsay's start-up, we have have employed a very liberal comment policy.  We have posted nearly 1,100 articles since our start-up, and we have yet to MODERATE or BAN a single post from our readers due to content or tone.  The only reasons that we would MODERATE or BAN a comment would be if the comment contained profane language or if the comment libeled a private person.

We allow all political views, and we allow our readers to voice their opinions and viewpoints about the job performance of elected public officials.  I have experienced political censorship on another local website myself, and I know others who have also experienced censorship.  At Hermann Hearsay, you can disagree with us, and we will not hold that against you.  We will keep publishing your comments.  We are entitled to our viewpoints which we freely publish on this site .... AND you are also entitled to your viewpoints!  We need to encourage people to express their personal viewpoints in America.  We need more vigorous political debate in America ..... NOT LESS!

We allow our readers to use their real names, fictitious usernames or to just comment "anonymously".  Another local news website takes the view that commenters who use fictitious usernames or who comment anonymously are necessarily more rude and uncivil to other readers than the commenters who use their real names.  We have not found this to be the case thus far on our website.  I believe we attract reasonable and intelligent readers.  We're interested in everything they have to say.  Some are uneasy discussing sensitive topics like politics, religion and public policy if they have to register using their real names.  For example, a local businessman may not be as forthcoming about his political views if he fears losing the business of those who may take an opposite view.  I understand this.  That's why we make it possible for all readers to make comments without the fear of economic reprisal.

Bottomline .... Our comment policy is liberal, and we will keep it that way to encourage free and open discussion.

If you disagree with us, let us know how you see it.  Let us know if you think we're missing something!

"Transparency in government means that the elected representatives of the people are open and honest with their constituents in everything pertaining to government. Elected representatives should share information openly, freely and frequently. By sharing information with their constituents, elected representatives earn the trust and confidence of their constituents. This is not a one-way street. Elected representatives of the people must make an earnest effort to LISTEN to the concerns and suggestions of their constituents."  ~ A. E. Newman, 11/12/2010 Press Release

Bible Verse Of The Day - Monday, 11/15/2010

Published by Lois Lame, SSALRCYTMVDQJCP & Assistant Editor

The word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” – Jeremiah 1:4-5

The Bible states that God knows our purpose on this earth before we were ever born. The God of creation made us for a specific reason, so our journey on this earth is not to create our destiny, but to discover it. As we connect with our Maker we connect with who we truly are. This frees us to stop using all the energy that it takes to grasp for our identity and instead to rejoice that God is well able to reveal to us what we need to know when we need to know it.
