Hermann News

It began snowing in Hermann at just after 12 o'clock noon and it continues to snow at 6:30 p.m. At this time we have 3-4 inches on the ground.
The turnout at the 32nd Annual Wurstfest has been affected by the inclement weather. But a good time is being had by the hearty souls who did turnout.

Hermann Hearsay

Hermann Hearsay reporter Dick Schaefer noted that incumbent city alderman Brian Chorley has a campaign sign in his yard. Apparently he has not yet withdrawn from the Ward 2 race. The election will be held on April 5th. Chorley's challenger in Ward 2 is Joseph T. Gleeson.
Hermann Hearsay reporter Clark Kant observed today that the county has not yet started construction on the much needed courthouse emergency access road which Presiding Commissioner Jost and Southern District Associate Commissioner Lairmore have been promising for over a year. Perhaps they will get started when the weather improves?! Yes, perhaps then?!

Hermann Hearsay introduced it's newest feature column ..... "Ralphie's Buffalo Chips" last weekend. This weekly feature column will be posted every weekend. We hope you will grow to like it!

Here is Edition 002 .....

A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo, much like the brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells.

The slowest buffalo are the sick and weak so they die off first, making it possible for the herd to move at a faster pace. Like the buffalo, the weak, slow brain cells are the ones that are killed off by excessive beer drinking and socializing, making the brain operate faster.

The moral of the story: Drink more beer; it will make you smarter!

A young man walks through the forest. He came to a bridge. In front of the bridge is a large man carrying an axe.

The man says, "If you want to cross this bridge, you must tell me a statement. If I think the statement is true, you will be strangled to death. If I say the statement is false, your head will be chopped off."

A few minutes later, the young man walked over the bridge, while the larger man stood pondering.

And God spoke all these words: I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me. – Exodus 20:1-3 (NIV)

The first of the 10 Commandments is “I am the LORD your God…you shall have no other gods before me.” If we truly believe and live out this first commandment, it will keep us from breaking any of the remaining nine! This is because if we keep God first in our life, above everything else, he himself will actually make us righteous before him. He is the LORD-I AM that I AM. He is the ultimate reality of life, love and power. When we believe this and submit our lives to him, we’ll not be led astray by other “gods” of this world or the “gods” of our flesh that would seek to destroy us. God desires to bring us out of a land of slavery to sin and self, and under his loving rule in all areas of our lives. Living out this first command truly will fulfill all the rest!

Note: In the days that follow, we will look more closely at each of the 10 Commandments and how obedience to the 1st Commandment is the fulfillment of all the rest.
