Last night, Monday, 12/27, the Board of Directors of the Gasconade County Courthouse Society (GCCS) met at 7 p.m. in the Gasconade County Courthouse at the request of GCCS President Dale Ridder. The purpose of the board meeting was to discuss and consider the conveyance of property adjoining the Courthouse property and valued at approximately $700,000 to Gasconade County. The property was purchased by and deeded to the GCCS by Joe and Judy Roetheli. After a serious and deliberate discussion of the wishes of Mr. and Mrs. Roetheli and consideration of statements made on behalf of the Roethelis by former Hermann City Administrator Steve Mueller, the GCCS voted unanimously to initiate the legal work necessary to transfer ownership of the property to the county with local attorney Donald K. Althauser. The motion to procede was made by GCCS Vice-President Olan Stemme and seconded by GCCS Secretary Sharon Meyer. Presiding Commissioner Ron Jost (and ex-officio member of the GCCS) was in attendance at the meeting, and he agreed to accept the property on behalf of Gasconade County subject to a review of the legal instrument of conveyance and the property use stipulations therein by the county's attorney and a subsequent vote of approval by the Gasconade County Commission.
I was in attendance at the meeting. The foregoing is a bried and factual accounting of the meeting discussion and outcomes, without inclusion of my own personal editorial comments and opinions. The foregoing is "hard news" reporting.
We have in our community a person who represents himself as a "news publisher", a journalist of sorts. He publishes his "news reports" at http://www.countynewslive.com/. This "news publisher" went way beyond reporting the facts of this important story, including his own personal opinions, his own personal interpretations of past and present actions and motives of certain individuals in attendance at the meeting as well as his own personal observations of people attending the meeting, all of which have little or nothing to do with the facts of the story. He seems to have used the occasion of the meeting to praise and promote certain individuals with whom he is known to be unusually "friendly" while taking gratuitous swipes at others with whom he is definitely not.
Take a look at this so-called "news report" (link provided hereinbelow) which was posted at CNL last night and evaluate it. You be the judge! Does it represent fair and balanced, factual "hard news" reporting? Is it "hard news" coverage or is it an "op/ed" piece with an obvious personal agenda? Is it a political promotion piece favoring persons with whom the publisher is known to be "friendly"? Is it "muckraking", "excrement agitation", "sensationalism" for the purpose of increasing readership? Again I say to our readers, read the CNL account of the meeting, and you be the judge!

I went there, and took a look, seems he covered the backgrounds of those there well, the scene as it was... or are you hacked because he didn't say you were there!! Ha Ha!!

I found the CNL story to be very gossipy and hard to read. It lacked cohesiveness and was very difficult to ascertain what facts the author was trying to convey! It seemed to be more of a story on how people were behaving, other than a story about, the conveyance of property adjoining the Courthouse property.
ReplyDeleteI really wonder if anyone cares how these people are getting along, that's what mediators are for. The Question bugging me and most everyone I have ever talked to, about the Courthouse is...When, if ever, will the proper up-keep, renovations, etc. START??? The County Commissioners should be ashamed of themselves for letting the structure go from bad to worse ON THEIR WATCH!!!

The CNL article seems like a very thourough piece. It gives you the whole picture of what was going on at that meeting and what lead up to that meeting. It sounds to me like your criticism is because of a personal issue you have with the publisher.

I like more fact base reporting from a purported 'News' site, of course I guess I should lower my standards considering that CNL is actually a Advertising and Marketing site with a little news and a lot of innuendo for example, I quote "For two of the Commission's greatest critics, board members Olan Stemme and Sharon Meyer, made the motion and seconded the motion to convey the land to the County." What made them two people two of the greatest critics? That statement was slanted and seemed to be pulled out of thin air. It was the first time they were even mentioned in the story!!!
The story was slanted and reports some things not based on any facts like your statement toward me "a personal issue you have with the publisher."
Of course perhaps you were not talking about my comment at all...Like the CNL article your comment leaves me confused!!!

Dear A Nonymous let's pull it back a little this isn't a Pacaderm meeting! This a discussion about the emergency road and any hope for repairs or improvements. I read the artical on CNL and the Boob comment, the story was mushy and opinionated. Let's get to credit due.Finally it looks like people are starting to get along. If the road gets put in I'll give you a big pat on the back! Since you were there can you point out any improvements to the building? How's the small project the Judges wanted coming along? Any painting,how's the jail removal going, the weight is still messing up the ceiling in the men's restroom. As for the CNL story and Boob's comment was the other commissioner asked any questions or included in the meeting? When anything get's done all the bitching and fighting will end!!!

Hermann Hearsay is not affiliated in any way, shape or form with HermannMoNEWS. Dick Schaefer and Poor Richard 2011 are two different individuals.
But what does it matter anyway? Why the obsessive curiosity about who I am and who Poor Richard 2010 is? Why not tell us who you are, A. Nonymous? Are you hiding something?
We publish your rants and accusations, so that others may evaluate your level of intellect and angry temperment. We don't dignify all of your comments with responses, because they are generally extremely hostile. But we DO publish them, because we here at Hermann Hearsay believe in freedom of speech ... particularly when it has to do with public policy and the performance of elected officials. The electorate has a right to know what is really going on. We find that the stories about the incompetence, arrogance and dishonesty of certain elected officials are not being accurately covered by the "news" media.
The electorate must therefore be able to learn the TRUTH from alternative sources. Hermann Hearsay is one such local source of information. HermannMONEWS is another.
We here at Hermann Hearsay are proud to call Poor Richard 2011 our new friend. We support what he is doing with his relatively new website. People now have a fresh source for news and other information.
Why do you resist and object to new sources for information, A. Nonymous? Do you have a vested interest in withholding the TRUTH from citizens of Gasconade County? What is that vested interest, A. Nonymous? I'm sure our readers would like to know!

Hermann Hearsay
This whole site is so dang confusing, it's a wonder anybody comments at all. Everything is anonymous for fear of retribution from Mr. Schaefer. Plus, you have umpteen fake names reporting on this site as "real" people, including "real" vacation stories, and a "real" candidate for Southern Commissioner. It's hard to tell up from down in this crazy online Wonderland. And then throw the anonymous Poor Richard in the mix and it creates an even more confusing situation. At least on CNL you know who the publisher is and who wrote the stories and who the people are who comment. I'm even cautious to use my real name because I don't want to be connected to this crazy site myself.
ReplyDeleteAnd to top it off, I can't understand the criticism of CNL as a biased site. This site is proudly pro-Penning and anti-Jost and Lairmore, so to me it's like the pot calling the kettle black.
I wish this site would get off all this fake BS and if it's all Schaefer, then admit it and move on. If Poor Richard, AE Newman, Lois Lame, etc., etc. is all the same person, then the reading public should know. This is just a charade that is being pulled on the unsuspecting public and it should be stopped by those trying to pull it off.
I can't imagine why one would derive pleasure from creating such a web of fake people online. It makes no rational sense. If Mr. Schaefer is in fact the one pulling the strings on this site, then I ask you to pull back the curtain and tell us once and for all why you intentionally deceive your readers.
Dick as hard as you try you can't fix stupid! This guy thinks everybody goose steps in his little parade. He thinks none of us are real! As I have posted before this guy has a mental defect that is easy to trigger. This type has trouble getting along with family and blows up over the littlest things...
