A. E. Newman Issues PRESS RELEASE

A. E. Newman sent us the following PRESS RELEASE yesterday.  Mr. Newman announced his candidacy for the office of Southern District Associate Commissioner of Gasconade County several months ago.

PRESS RELEASE
A. E. Newman (I) for Southern District Associate Commissioner of Gasconade County
11/4/2010

(Bland, MO) ----- The 2010 mid-term elections are now history. Voters of Gasconade County have decided to retain incumbent officers rather than change the direction our county has been going. Ron Jost (R) won re-election as Presiding Commissioner. Lesa Lietzow (R) won re-election as County Clerk. Unopposed incumbents Shawn Schlottach (R) and Joey Grosse (R) won re-election as County Collector and County Treasurer respectively.

As you may already know, I have announced my intent to run as an Independent candidate for the office of Southern District Associate Commissioner of Gasconade County now held by Jerry Lairmore (R) of Owensville. During the stump speeches I have given and the small group meetings in which I have participated, I have received a good deal of encouragement from friends and neighbors. In the coming 24 months, I will deliver many more stump speeches and attend many more small group gatherings. In these speeches and meetings, I will unveil my concerns about the current direction of and my proposals for Gasconade County, and I will educate the voters as to why the current "good ol' boys (and girls) network" must be broken up.

My election campaign will primarily consist of going door to door in the southern district, conducting stump speeches before small venues and issuing press releases from time to time. I am hesitant to grant interviews to the media, because I don't trust the media to give me a fair shake. I have seen what the media has done to other political candidates in the past. For the most part, these interviews have been one-sided, and I want no part of that. I suppose it is possible that I could be persuaded otherwise as the campaign unfolds. For now, however, I will be getting my message out by talking to individuals and small groups.

My campaign will seek to educate the electorate on the following issues:
  1. lack of transparency by county government,
  2. lack of financial accountability and mismanagement of public funds by county government,
  3. lack of forward-looking vision by the county commission, and
  4. lack of leadership by the county commission.
These issues will be fleshed out in future stump speeches and press releases.

Clark Kant
Retired CEO and Publisher is returning to Hermann Hearsay to assist
Jimmy Oldsun and Dick Schaefer with county government exposes.
The job of reporting on county goverment has become enormous.
Clark will help us get the word out to the electorate of Gasconade
County regarding various issues facing the county.  As evidenced by
the vote on Tuesday of this week, the local media has done a less
than adequate job of educating voters regarding issues such as lack
of transparency, lack of accountability, financial mismanagement
and wasteful spending.  Clark will be working part-time and will
contribute one investigative report per month.  Hermann Hearsay
appeals to CNL, The Hermann A-C and The Gasconade County
Republican to also increase their coverage of county government.
If the media doesn't report on the county's business in a truthful,
complete and meaningful way, the electorate cannot be expected to
cast their votes with the complete knowledge they need.

"Queen Nancy" has been "de-throned" .....

In a statement after the midterm election results were declared, soon-to-be former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a statement that .....

"The outcome of the election does not diminish the work we have done for the American people. We must all strive to find common ground to support the middle class, create jobs, reduce the deficit and move our nation forward."  ~ Nancy Pelosi

Bye, bye, Queen Nancy!  Enjoy your retirement!

As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” At once they left their nets and followed him.  ~ Matthew 4:18-20

I often hear people say, “I’m not quite ready to follow Jesus.” Yet Jesus never asked us to pull ourselves together, then follow Him. Like the uneducated fishermen Simon and Andrew, Jesus called them to follow Him THEN he would make them fishers of men. Jesus did not chose them for their intellect, for fishermen of that day were simple people. He also did not chose them for their skill, for Jesus was about to redefine what fishing meant to these experienced fishermen.

What excuses do we make in not following Jesus? It is neither our skill or lack of it that counts, but simply obeying when we hear the call.
