Pope Benedict XVI issued a clarion call to defend Christianity in an address before the British Parliament on Thursday evening, September 16, 2010, saying Christmas was at risk of being struck from the calendar.

In a strongly worded speech delivered in the British Parliament on September 16,2010, Benedict XVI bluntly told politicians not to ‘silence’ religion and discourage public celebration of its most important festivals.

And in a thinly veiled attack on controversial equality legislation, he said laws which forced Christians to act against their consciences were wrong.

"There are those who would advocate that the voice of religion be silenced, or at least relegated to the purely private sphere" he told senior politicians and public figures.

"There are those who argue that the public celebration of festivals such as Christmas should be discouraged, in the questionable belief that it might somehow offend those of other religions or none."

He spoke as security was tightened around the Papal visit after the arrest of six central London street sweepers over a suspected terror plot to attack him.

Bible Verse Of The Day - Friday, 12/24/2010

Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory. – 1 Timothy 3:16

Christmas is ultimately a mystery. God appeared in a body. When we try to grasp this we have to create new words like the Incarnation. It’s just hard to describe. Yet everything in Jesus life was hard to describe. If God were not hard to describe, He probably wouldn’t be God. This is part of the glory of Christmas; to live in the mystery. When we believe in “the hard to describe” Jesus, we join the ranks of billions who have gone before us. May we learn to be more content with Jesus than with answers. May you have a Merry Christmas!

Editorial Comment: Why pay for information when you can get it FREE? Tip #2

Disclaimer:  The following information is being provided as a FREE service to our FREE subscribers and readers.  We have received no compensation or remuneration whatsoever from any person or entity for publishing the following recommendation.

Why pay for information when you can conveniently receive it for FREE? Why pay some lazy, middleman publisher of what increasingly amounts to just an online "ad sheet" to "re-package" the news and other information you can get elsewhere for FREE?

Here's a case in point ..... Why jump around all over the internet from one online source to another to find the local, state, national and international news that is of interest to you? Why spend all that time and energy when Poor Richard 2011 of HermannMoNews has already done that for you.  Poor Richard 2011 updates his site with 10 - 20 current news stories each and everyday.  He finds interesting news articles that I would never find.  I consider HermannMoNews the 'Drudge Report' of Hermann.  PR2011 provides news FREE at his website: http://www.HermannMoNews.blogspot.com.

In addition to being a FREE news site, HermannMoNews does not require any registration in order for you to leave comments.  Leave comments identifying your true name, or leave comments "anonymously", or leave NO comments at all.  It's entirely your choice!  Your personal information is always protected.  Since Poor Richard 2011 collects NO personal information regarding your name, address or email address, he obviously cannot sell it to third parties as some website operators do!

In 2011, save yourself some money and get the FREE information you want from FREE sources. We will suggest other money-saving tips in the next several days leading up to the New Year. Be sure to come back to Hermann Hearsay. Afterall, our service is FREE, leaving you more money in your pocket for Christmas gifts and a gala New Year's celebration!
