This is our 1,000th posting! It got here soooooo fast!
Thanks for your support!
Although we are forced to keep our operating expenses low in order to remain financially solvent, we will continue striving to improve content and services. I guarantee you that Hermann Hearsay will be here for a long time to come. Our detractors will never dissuade us from publishing hard-hitting, critical and truthful political content. We will also continue to offer lighter content to break-up the seriousness of our political commentary.
Again, thanks for your support!

"With yesterday's re-election of incumbents Presiding Comissioner Ron Jost and County Clerk Lesa Lietzow, Gasconade County voters sent a loud message that they prefer the disfunctional status quo of incompetence rather than stepping forward into the 21st century and facing the challenges which are before us. That's a crying shame! With the help of my friends and supporters, I intend to break-up the good ol' boys (and girls) club by defeating Jerry Lairmore for Southern District Associate Commissioner in 2012. It is obvious that I will have to campaign hard and educate voters as to why change is imperative!" ~ A. E. Newman (I), Candidate for Southern District Associate Commissioner of Gasconade County

But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ – Philippians 3:7-8
The apostle Paul, who wrote this, was the crème of ancient culture. Highly educated, a part of the religious elite, Paul had everything going for him. But when he had an encounter with Christ, all of that faded away. Mankind values education and status, but God has a different value system. As important as education is, Christ is greater. As intoxicating as social standing is, Christ calls us to lay all of that down. It’s one thing to lay down sinful things, but when we see Jesus in His glory we’ll lay down good things for the sake of knowing Him. This was the call to Paul and it is no less the call to us.

As of 9:30 pm with 100% of precincts reporting ......
Gasconade County Presiding Commissioner
Ron Jost (R) 3,323 60%
Jerry Spurgeon (D) 2,178 40%
Gasconade County Clerk
Lesa Lietzow (R) 3,823 69%
Sharon Meyer (D) 1,733 31%
Out-of-State Sales (Use) Tax
No 3,552 67%
Yes 1,719 33%
It's a pathetically sad and sorry day for Gasconade County! The voters have decided to maintain the disfunctional status quo and reject PROGRESS. Too many "low information" voters who haven't really bothered to find out what is going on has once again resulted in less than optimum "good ol' boy (and girl) government"! Blind, uninformed "goose-stepping" will not move this county forward and the consequences are dangerous and detrimental to the county!

Don't forget to vote today! And when you vote, please consider voting Sharon Meyer for County Clerk! The financial systems and financial procedures of Gasconade County are a complete mess! The County Clerk is the "Chief Financial Officer" of the county. Incumbent County Clerk has plenty of time to bring our financial systems into the 20th century. For whatever reason(s), she has failed to do so. It's time for a change!

Ernest Dale Tubb (February 9, 1914 – September 6, 1984), nicknamed the Texas Troubadour, was an American singer and songwriter and one of the pioneers of country music. His biggest career hit song, "Walking the Floor Over You" (1941), marked the rise of the honky tonk style of music. In 1948, he was the first singer to record a hit version of "Blue Christmas", a song more commonly associated with Elvis Presley and his mid-1950s version. Another well-known Tubb hit was "Waltz Across Texas" (1965), which became one of his most requested songs and is often used in dance halls throughout Texas during waltz lessons. In the early 1960s, he recorded duets with up-and-coming Loretta Lynn, including their hit "Sweet Thang". Tubb is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
This song goes out to Dick Schaefer, Jack Grant, Bill Johnson, Ron Steele and Brian Duschell and all the old regulars at 'The Happy Hollow' beer joint in Oriole, MO. Here is Ernest Tubb, the 'Texas Troubadour', singing "Waltz Across Texas" .....

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. – Colossians 3:12-13
Paul’s admonition to the Colossian believers is a call back to the gospel. One of the true tests of a believer is how they respond when faced with the pain of offense. If our identity is in the love that the Father showers upon us, then we are able to reflect the nature of the Holy Spirit to others. This is not a display of our benevolence, but an exercise in our personal awareness of our daily need for Jesus. To hold grudges against each other shows that we have forgotten our own need for mercy.

Hermann Hearsay is announcing our endorsement of Jerry Spurgeon (D) for Presiding Commissioner of Gasconade County. Earlier this year, we had endorsed Larry Miskel (R) in the Republican primary, but Miskel was narrowly defeated (16 votes) by incumbent Ron Jost (R).
It is essential that we have new leaders for Gasconade County. Replacing incumbents Jost (Presiding Commissioner) and Lietzow (County Clerk) will represent a good beginning toward that end.
Hermann Hearsay endorsed Sharon Meyer (D) for County Clerk several months ago. The County Clerk is the "chief financial officer" in the county. From the looks of Gasconade County's 2010 state audit reports, we desperately need a new County Clerk!

Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbor, “Come back later; I’ll give it tomorrow”- when you now have it with you. ~ Proverbs 3:27-28
In many ways our view of possessions, time, and money is exposed when we are faced with the inconvenient needs of a neighbor. Yet many times God is in the inconvenient moments — the times that we don’t want to help someone around us. Sometimes it takes a disaster like a hurricane or earthquake to activate people toward acts of service for each other, but for the Christian the Scripture tells us to act now! As we do, we may be surprised that we find Jesus in the person that we give water to, or the friend in the hospital, or the needy neighbor who needs an act of compassion. When God gives you the opportunity to serve those around you don’t let it pass by!
