It's a pathetically sad and sorry day for Gasconade County!  The voters have decided to maintain the disfunctional status quo and reject PROGRESS.  Too many "low information" voters who haven't really bothered to find out what is going on has once again resulted in less than optimum "good ol' boy (and girl) government"!  Blind, uninformed "goose-stepping" will not move this county forward and the consequences are dangerous and detrimental to the county!

  1. Is this the Olan Stemme Blog?

Cry about it all you want, we retained the elected officials working for us.

Sharon Meyer would have been a disaster. Sorry you couldn't get your way.

Any you will never convince me you are conservative when you complain about conservatives winning.

Allow time to set in, and you will understand what happened last night. Enjoy.

  2. Dear Laughing,

I have already considered the meaning of yesterday's election. My comments stand. Too many people in this county are uninformed about the people who are in office. I commend Olan Stemme for "going against the grain" in supporting conservative democrats who are competent. Guess that pisses off some of the County Republicans, e.g. Jerry Lairmore, Lesa Lietzow, et al. Tough! At least Olan Stemme is capable of some independent thought and he has the courage of his convictions. I'll take that over a political party "goose-stepper" any day!

  3. Seems if you want to Support Democrat Candidates, you should not be an officer in the Republican party! Talk about confused and two faced!

  4. "Real Republican" ...

I understand how you feel. I once felt exactly the same way. But now that I'm more mature, I support the best candidate for the office regardless of their political party affiliation. I believe that Olan Stemme feels the same way and I applaud him for being an independent thinker and a courageous man!

I suggest that you "rethink" your own rigid support of ANY political party. Although I am a conservative, I will not blindly support a candidate just because he/she has an "R" behind his/her name.

Perhaps Olan should leave the County Republicans and become an Independent or a Tea Party member. I'm sure Olan will do the right thing whatever he decides to do.

  5. I agree completely with Jimmy. One should cast his/her vote for the candidate they feel will best represent them and is best qualified for the job. The days of straight party voting because of an (R) or (D) by their name is long past. The party lines have become very blurred between the two.

  6. Olan Stemme is an elected member of the Gasconade County Republican Committee and also the vice chair.

His one job on the committee (aside from appointing candidates in special elections) is to help Republicans get elected!

He failed his job. I agree with Jimmy whole heartedly, Olan should step down.

And Jimmy, I caught your passive aggressive nature with the "more mature" comments. Sounds perhaps you are just too bitter about the election results.

  7. Dear "Laughing",

Olan Stemme understands that Lesa Lietzow is not cutting it as County Clerk. Take a look at the facts .... take a look at the Missouri state audits of 2002, 2006 and 2010. The County Clerk, by Missouri statute, is the
"chief financial officer" of the county. Under
Lietzow's watch, Gasconade County has been dinged for numerous and repetitive financial system and procedural deficiencies She has done nothing about these deficiencies and probably has neither the intellectual curiosity nor the ability to correct them.

Olan Stemme understands this, and he knows that someone else, whether they be a Republican, a Democrat, an Independent, a Tea Partier, or a candidate from outer space, will need to come into the office of County Clerk and straighten things out.

But hey, "Laughing", if you County Republicans refuse to look at the facts, just keep on supporting your good ol' boy (and girl) Republicans. I'll keep on working to educate the people of Gasconade County when office holders fail to perform their jobs. And I won't especially care whether they're Republicans, Democrats or Independents.

  8. Jimmy I think the ranting of this little goose stepper is very familiar. Did he give a little speech today? I bet Daddy is so proud.

  9. A. Nonymous,

I did hear tell that one of the Gasconade County Pachyderm goose-steppers gave a little stump speech in Owensville this morning. I don't know if this is one of our frequent commenters or not.

  10. Why is it, anyone who disagrees with your view is attacked, insulted, and villianized? Goosestepper? I'd be wary of calling someone Nazi-like in a GERMAN town! Might not go over too well. Something you might consider, the point of view you keep thumping on, loses each time there is an election. Ever stop to think, maybe you are in a minority, and the public at large, is against you? The votes cast hold this to be true. Also, have you ever considered, your actions, are exactly like the hack and attack methods the Democrats use?? Maybe, you are claiming to be in the wrong party? Olan Stemme has an Identity crisis, you want to act like a Democrat, join them, and quite being a RINO! We know a fraud when we see one.
