A. E. Newman
Candidate for Gasconade County SDAC
Date:  9/21/2010

We just learned that A. E. Newman's Missouri mule named 'Truman' has won highly-coveted awards from The American Donkey and Mule Society (ADMS).

'Truman' won the blue ribbon award in two categories:
  1. 'The Stubbornest Mule' Award, and
  2. 'The Best Groomed Mule' Award.
Newman credits his hard-working staff at Newman's Mid-Missouri Mule Riding Ranch near Bland for helping 'Truman' win this award.  (See photo of 'Truman' below.)

Newman recently announced his candidacy for Southern District Associate Commissioner of Gasconade County.  Newman will be opposing incumbent Jerry Lairmore in the 2012 general election.

Newman told Hermann Hearsay that he plans to ride 'Truman' in the 2011 and 2012 Gasconade County Fair Parade in Owensville.

While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” – Acts 13:2

Prayer and fasting revealed the next stage of the journey for Barnabas and Saul. How many times have we made major life decisions without the counsel of the Lord? If we are willing to slow down and seek after the Lord we speed up our ability to clearly discern the next step in life. Are you able to trust that God can and will give direction? Are you willing to slow down in order to speed up?

BREAKING NEWS: A. E. Newman Announces Candidacy for Southern District Associate Commissioner

Published by Dick Schaefer, Award-winning, Unpaid, Part-time Contributing Writer and Amateur Investigative Reporter and Aspiring Photo-journalist

A. E. Newman
Date:  9/20/2010

A. E. Newman of Bland, MO announced his candidacy for Southern District Associate Commissioner of Gasconade County this morning at the McDonald's in Owensville.  Speaking between bites of an 'Egg McMuffin' breakfast sandwich, Newman's usual breakfast fare, he told reporters that he decided to make the run after careful consideration during the past several weeks.

Newman told reporters he will run as an Independent in the 2012 election campaign.  He figures this will assure him of the chance facing off with incumbent Jerry Lairmore of Owensville in the general election.  Newman promises to campaign for election to the office every evening and every Saturday and Sunday between now and November 2012.  Newman is already very organized.  He has a campaign organizer in every city and town in the southern district of Gasconade County except for Canaan.  Newman's campaign will be entirely self-funded from the money he makes on his paper route.  He will accept NO above-the-table campaign contributions from the voters.

When asked about the planks in his campaign platform, Newman told Hermann Hearsay that he is still formulating his comprehensive platform but he gave us a glimpse by saying that, if elected, he will work hard to:
  1. upgrade all county roads in the southern district to the high standards of Pigg Hollow Road,
  2. provide improved benefits to county employees to include:  100% paid cellphone service, 100% paid internet service, $20 per month credit at the McDonald's in Owensvill, $20 per month credit at Bogie's in Owensville and a chicken in every pot,
  3. hire Horace Brown, recent Missouri S&T grad, as Gasconade County's first county engineer,
  4. refrain from speaking harshly and cussing out his colleagues during road department meetings at Drake,
  5. save the county money on its purchases of tires and tire services by building and operating Newman's Tire Store in Drake,
  6. move county commission meetings to evening sessions so more citizens can attend,
  7. eliminate ALL political stump speeches in county commission meetings, and
  8. prohibit arbitrary ejections of senior citizens from county commission meetings.

He who tends a fig tree will eat its fruit, and he who looks after his master will be honored.  ~ Proverbs 27:18

In this comparison, we see a picture of competence and loyalty. The master is like the fig tree, providing for the needs of his servant. But if the tree is not tended, no one benefits. If the master is not looked after, he won’t have the resources to honor his servant.

Today, we could remove the master/slave titles and put in employer/employee, or entrepreneur/client.

To tend to our source of provision is to take care of ourselves.

Editorial Comment: Thanks, America! ........Moochelle Obama

Published by Jimmy Oldsun, NDRIRSRWRAFTC & Editor

Thanks, America!

For only the second time in my adult life, I am not ashamed of my country. I want to thank the hard working American people for paying $442 thousand dollars plus additional expenses for my vacation in Spain . My daughter Sasha, several long-time family friends, my personal staff and various guests had a wonderful time. Honestly, you just haven't lived until you have stayed in a $2,500.00 per night suite at a 5-Star luxury hotel. We only booked 70 rooms for our friends, staff and family. Thank you also for the use of Air Force 2 and the 70 Secret Service personnel who tagged along to be sure we were safe and cared for at all times.

Air Force 2 only used 47,500 gallons of jet fuel for this trip and carbon emissions were a mere 1,031 tons of CO2. It costs only $11,500 per hour to operate Air Force 2 and each additional plane for the other members of our party group. These are only rough estimates, but they are close (who's counting?). That's quite a carbon footprint as my good friend Al Gore would say, so we must ask the American citizens to drive smaller, more fuel efficient cars and drive less too, so we can lessen our combined carbon footprint.

I know times are hard and millions of you are struggling to put food on the table and trying to make ends meet. I do appreciate your sacrifice and do hope you find work soon. I was really exhausted after Barack took our family on a luxury vacation in Maine a few weeks ago. I just had to get away for a few days. Will write more from Martha's Vineyard where we will spend our sixth vacation this year with more of our family and friends.

Cordially,

M. Obama

When it rains, creeks rise.

It rained pretty hard and pretty steadily all Saturday night into Sunday morning ...... but you didn't need me to tell you this.  It continues to rain as of 11:50 a.m. Sunday morning ...... but you don't need me to tell you this.  Frene Creek raised as it always does when it rains a lot ...... but you already knew that.  When Frene Creek rises rapidly, the 'Harold Vohs Campground' and lower City Park gets flooded out ...... but you've seen that occur many times before.  When the campground gets flooded, campers are in danger and they risk drowning or at least loss/damage to vehicles and camping gear ...... but you already know this.  None of this is news!  But one local news publisher spent all night snapping photos and interviewing the people who were impacted.  Ho hum!

The real news story here is ...... "Why does the City of Hermann continue to allow visitors to camp in this low-lying flood plain?  Is there adequate signage in the campground warning of the potential for flash-flooding anytime it rains heavily?  Is it time to construct a new visitor camping area on high ground or shall we wait until a family drowns during a flash-flood?  Should the new campground be constructed and operated by the City or should it be constructed and operated by a private operator such as KOA?"

I apologize for this weekend's weather report!  My forecast was off by a gosh-darned country mile!

Please bear with me, folks.  I may not be as good a weatherman as Charlie Farquharson, but I am a helluva lot cheaper!  Only by employing people like me who are willing to work for peanuts can Hermann Hearsay offer FREE subscriptions to our readers!

Jimmy Oldsun, my young boss, has promised to pay my tuition, so I can study meteorology online at Phoenix University.  If Jimmy keeps his promise, I should be able to complete my course of study sometime in 2013.  Until then, you'll just have to bear with me!

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.  ~ 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

The Temple of Israel was where God dwelled among his people. It was a holy place, set apart for God’s purposes and presence. The Apostle Paul is telling us here that this is what our bodies have become. “Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.”

Our bodies have now been set apart for God’s Holy Spirit to live in. This is an amazing thought! Because of this we are not to treat our bodies like they were given to us merely for our own personal use.

God paid a great price for us with the life and death of his Son. We are responsible to take good care of our bodies-valuing them-and in so doing, honoring the God who now dwells within.
