One of the best early-'60s New York girl groups, combining sassiness and innocence on several of the style's greatest classics. The Chiffons had some singles under their belt when they reached number one with "He's So Fine," whose classic "doo-lang, doo-lang" riff was appropriated by George Harrison in 1970 for his own chart-topper, "My Sweet Lord" (Harrison was subsequently ordered to pay substantial damages to the original publishers, though he always claimed the resemblance was unintentional). Their follow-up, Goffin-King's "One Fine Day," was just as good, featuring killer piano riffs from King herself. Actually cut as a Little Eva track, the Chiffons' vocal was substituted, resulting in a Top Five hit. There were a couple other memorable hits -- "I Have a Boyfriend" and the Motown-influenced "Sweet Talkin' Guy" -- and interesting misfires like the Martha & the Vandellas-inspired "The Real Thing," as well as some singles issued under an alter ego, the Four Pennies. The group recorded quite a bit of material during the '60s.

With all of the turmoil that Egypt is facing, we need to pray for our brothers and sisters there. God was faithful to send them a Savior, and He is working His purpose in Egypt today. May Jesus be exalted in the midst of this crisis. May there be an altar to the Lord in the heart of Egypt. Don’t let news reports be the only influence of your view of what is happening in Egypt. Pray for Egypt today!

Dear "Ralphie Boy" a.k.a. "Joe Citizen" a.k.a. "Little Joey" a.k.a. "Madman" a.k.a. "A. Nonymous" or whoever you really are:

We are in receipt of your most recent vitriolic and threatening communique.  We find it to be a boorish 
repetition of your angry, malicious, unsubstantiated, unproven accusations against an honest man in our community who carries more integrity in his little toe than you carry in your big fat skull.

You have sent us a total of eight (8) such comments now.  None of them have been fit to publish.  Why you think Hermann Hearsay will publish your lies, half-truths and innuendos without persuasive corroborating evidence is beyond my ability to comprehend!

Give it up, "Ralphie Boy"!  Take your lies, half-truths and innuendos elsewhere.  We are not interested in the obsessive-compulsive rantings of a lunatic!  Your comment(s) will not be published here.  We are ignoring you and your false accusations completely.  Maybe you can get your buddy "Ed Norton" to send us the next comment!

The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Some have wandered away from these and turned to meaningless talk. They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm. – 1 Timothy 1:5-7

Just because someone speaks confidently doesn’t mean that what they are saying is Scriptural true. Paul is warning Timothy to watch out for this danger, which is as real today as it was back then. In a day of sound bites, it is every believer’s responsibility to not allow personality to cloud the reality of the Bible. This is not to become mean spirited critics ourselves. Our goal is that the faith would be known for a lifestyle of purity, no hidden agendas, and what is truly and deeply felt. When this happens we see God’s love exhibited.

"Walk Like An Egyptian" was released as the third single from Different Light. It debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 in September 1986. The song reached a peak of number three on the UK Singles Chart in November 1986 and reached number one in the U.S. on December 20, staying at the top of the Hot 100 for four weeks, carrying it over into January 1987. The song is the first song by an all-female group playing their own instruments, The Bangles, to top the Billboard singles chart. The success of the song and "Manic Monday" propelled Different Light to number two on the Billboard 200 chart, making it the group's most successful album.

The United States Declaration of Independence is a statement adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, which announced that the thirteen American colonies then at war with Great Britain were now independent states, and thus no longer a part of the British Empire. Written primarily by Thomas Jefferson, the Declaration is a formal explanation of why Congress had voted on July 2 to declare independence from Great Britain, more than a year after the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War. The birthday of the United States of America—Independence Day—is celebrated on July 4, the day the wording of the Declaration was approved by Congress.

The Declaration justified the independence of the United States by listing colonial grievances against King George III, and by asserting certain natural rights, including a right of revolution. Having served its original purpose in announcing independence, the text of the Declaration was initially ignored after the American Revolution. Its stature grew over the years, particularly the second sentence, a sweeping statement of individual human rights:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."  ~ Written by Thomas Jefferson and adopted by The Continental Congress of the United States of America on July 4, 1776

This sentence has been called "one of the best-known sentences in the English language"[2] and "the most potent and consequential words in American history"[3]

It seems to the publisher of this posting that the important questions above all others for We The People of the United States of America are and shall always be:
  1. Do we still believe in this statement of equality and unalienable Rights and will we continue to do everything possible to secure and retain these Rights for ourselves, our countrymen, our children and our grandchildren?
  2. Do we still believe that this statement of equality applies universally throughout the world to all men and women throughout the world, that they too are endowed by their Creator with the same inalienable Rights of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness we as Americans lay claim to?  And will we do everything in our power to help others around the world secure these same Rights for themselves?
  3. What is the proper role of American foreign policy when it comes to helping our fellow man in foreign countries secure the same unalienable Rights we have enjoyed for so long?  Is our role to be noble and stand on higher principle?  Or is our proper role to be practical and protect the best interests of the American people by promoting stability in foreign countries above all else?

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. – 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Paul uses the language of the Garden of Eden. When God formed Adam from the dust, He breathed his Spirit into him. In the same way, God has breathed His Spirit into the Scripture. It may have been formed by ink and parchment, but God’s breath takes words and turns them into a life changing force. The Scripture will give us everything we need to live on this earth. Take time and read it today!
