Hermann News Stories
  1. The board members of Historic Hermann, Inc., hosted a "volunteer appreciation luncheon" today at Stone Hill's Vintage 1847 Restaurant.  Thirty plus volunteers and a number of board members were treated to a lunch of Bavarian breast of chicken topped with a zesty lemon caper sauce and served with steam green beans and wild rice.  After the luncheon, the volunteers moved to the German School Museum for dessert, coffee and refresher training on tour guide procedures.  Joy and Carol Kallmeyer and the entire Board of Directors of Historic Hermann, Inc. appreciate their volunteers and the volunteers certainly appreciate the way they are treated by Joy and his board board members.  Joy will be undergoing knee surgery at Boone County Hospital in Columbia tomorrow.  Please keep Joy in your thoughts and prayers.
  2. Jo Humason reported that the newly combined restaurant, Jillsie's and Time For Pie, is now offering an expanded breakfast menu.  The new breakfast items are available through the day and evening.  Hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday thru Friday and on Sunday.  Saturday hours are 7 a.m. to  midnight.
Hermann Hearsay
  1. A small group of people gathered at Jillsie's were discussing the status of the Roetheli properties this afternoon.  The transfer of these properties hit a "snag" when Commissioners Jost and Lairmore objected to certain language in the general warranty deeds which had been drawn up by local attorney Don Althauser at the direction of the GCCS (Gasconade County Courthouse Society).  This was reported by the Hermann Advertiser-Courier last week.  The majority of those gathered agreed that Jost and Lairmore are obviously reluctant to accept the property and that they will continue to find "reasons" to delay or block this transfer of gifted property.  The question which the group pondered was:  "Why?"
  2. A small group of friends gathered at Wings-A-Blazin' this evening were discussing the county's unemployment rate.  They questioned what county leaders are doing to attract jobs to Hermann and Owensville.  They questioned the effectiveness of the Gasconade County Industrial Development Authority (IDA) and the Gasconade Valley Enterprise Zone (GVEZ).  This particular group of county residents thinks these groups need to be doing more and that these groups need to be reporting exactly what they are doing through the newspapers of the county.

  1. Conspiracy Nut-Job Ralphie is probably foaming at the mouth now!!! How dare you say there isn't hanky panky going on at GCCS. lol

And didn't you hear, 9+ Percent unemployment is the NEW Normal. Nothing wrong with being unemployed, gives one more time to go Hunting, Fishing, and Target Practicing, not to mention, plenty of time to attend those all important NRA meetings!!! LMAO
