For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6
This prophecy was made over 700 years before the birth of Christ. As Isaiah was speaking to Judah of its failure and collapse, there was a plan set in place that would not only redeem Israel, but all of humanity. This would be a son who was compassionate as a counselor, yet all-powerful as God. He would reveal the Father who has no beginning, yet would bring peace between this infinite being and finite creation. Only Jesus Christ met these prophecies. This is the glory of the Father, who embedded into a decaying nation the very promise of the Messiah. This is relevant to us, because if we feel that we have failed, God gives us hope in Jesus Christ. He reveals to the Father to us in wonderful ways!
