Saul was very angry; this refrain galled him. “They have credited David with tens of thousands,” he thought, “but me with only thousands. What more can he get but the kingdom?” And from that time on Saul kept a jealous eye on David. – 1 Samuel 18:8-9
Can we allow God to bless others? Saul was already king of Israel. He was the one who promoted David into his army. But that wasn’t enough. Saul’s insecurities could not allow anyone else to be used of God around him. If we get our security from our position or power, we will react in the same way. But if we get our life from God alone, we can rejoice with the people who receive more credit than we do, for our value has already been established by God.
