“Matt has got until next Thursday to pay these bills.  You’ve got the chance to man up, Matt. You said at a meeting in Owensville all bills should be collected.”  ~ Gasconade County Southern District Associate Commissioner Jerry Lairmore, as reported by Dave Marner in the Gasconade County Republican on 10/14/2009

"Er uh excuse me, Jerry, but have you been paid for those legal bills yet?"  ~ Jimy Oldsun, Editor of Hermann Hearsay

  1. Ha ha ha! Is this the "Quote of the Day" or the "Laugh of the Day"?

  2. Don't you just love these quotes!! Let's see.. Who hired Ivan Schraeder? ..Who staged the phony break in?... Who made a bunch of good hearted volunteers look bad just because he didn't like some of them?..Who called a so called reporter and the law to stage the dog and pony show at a Commissioners Meeting?... All of these things just keep stacking up. I don't think we did any help answering any of these questions.Todays quote is when you start reporting only what people want to hear its no longer news.Is that why the other web site only covers part of the commissioners meetings? 3. Right on, Martin! In order to know the real news, one must go to the coffee shop or barber shop. Reading what others want you to read will just not suffice in Gasconade County. Afterall any so-called "news" organization which seeks to profit by selling advertising will never risk offending their advertisers by printing controversial investigative reports. Why do the hard work of an investigative journalist when you can simply publish fluff stories and still get your advertisers to buy ad space?

Adnittedly we don't publish all of the controversial news stories we could. On the otherhand we don't charge anything for advertising or for subscriptions, and therefore we are NOT cheating anyone.

It's pathetic to see the poor quality of reporting in the local area given the expensive advertising rates and subscription rates.
