Date: 8/10/2010
I attended my Second Annual GCCS Membership Meeting last night. The meeting was held at the courthouse. Hi-lites from the meeting were:
- President Dale Ridder led the meeting through a one-hour agenda.
- Secretary Sharon Meyer read the minutes from the 2009 Annual Meeting. The minutes were approved as read.
- Treasurer Glenn Warnebold gave a financial report. The GCCS had expenses of $3,397 for the period of 8/1/2009 to 7/31/2010. The GCCS remains solvent with a bank balance of about $1500 not counting membership renewal fees which were accepted last night.
- President Ridder discussed by-law changes which the current board of directors has been working on. He received input from members on two versions of the GCCS proposed mission statement. President Ridder stated that it his intention to ask for a meeting with the County Commission to discuss how the GCCS can assist the Commission with efforts to move ahead with the courthouse preservation and restoration project.
- Two "at-large" board member positions were up for election. The current board nominated current members John Estes and Glenn Warnebold for the two positions. Mike Jacquin nominated Danny Baumstark. Before the vote could be taken, Glenn Warnebold withdrew his name from consideration. A motion was then made and seconded that the membership accept the nominations of John Estes and Danny Baumstark and elect them by acclimation. The motion carried by voice vote unanimously.
- Vice-President Olan Stemme gave the membership a report on the status of the clean-up work on the Holland Property. The clean-up work is continuing, and it is expected that the work will be ompleted within a couple more months.
- Under "new business", member Mike Martens asked if ways could be found to keep the general membership updated on the progress being made by the Board of Directors. Secretary Sharon Meyer will collect everyone's email address and send out copies of board meeting minutes.
I think the Dale Ritter you mention is actually Dale Ridder. Correction?
ReplyDeleteI stand corrected. Thanks for the catch! I've corrected the original posting.

In the interest of complete reporting, weren't Jost and Lairmore at this meeting? You've been on their case for not showing in the past, but when they do, you don't mention it?? What's with that?
ReplyDeleteDear Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteThere were a lot of people in attendance at this meeting. I didn't keep a list of every attendee. Apparently you did. Neither Jost nor Lairmore made any contribution in the meeting, so I didn't make note of their non-participation in my report. They could have offered leadership by making positive comments about the need to work with the GCCS to preserve and restore the courthouse. They didn't. That's all I have to report about Jost and Lairmore.
Any further questions, "Anonymous"?
Dick Schaefer
Yeah, who cut your hair???
ReplyDeleteWhat's your real name, "Anonymous"? Don't you want everyone to know who is asking these
ReplyDelete"penetrating" questions?
Dick Schaefer
Why Dick, You post under all sorts of names here, other than your own, right? And make all sorts of silly non sensical comments. So it's ok for you, but not anyone else?? And why are you getting so testy???? Now as to those in attendance of the meeting, you mentioned you were there, yet you didn't contribute anything did you? Double standard here? Or just a personal slant? What kind of Journalism is that now, Dick?? You printed the Standards here a while back, but you don't follow them. Shame on you!
ReplyDeleteHey "Anonymous",
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you take your chickenshit act elsewhere! Frankly, you bore me!
Jost is the Presiding Commissioner of Gasconade County (at least for the time being). As the titular leader of the county, he could have reached out to the leadership and membership of the GCCS and made a positive statement on behalf of the need for mutual cooperation between the Commission and the GCCS. Jost didn't do that. Neither did Lairmore.
As ex-officio GCCS board member, Jost has missed 50% of the GCCS board meetings since he first agreed to serve. Jost continues to stonewall, delay and obstruct progress on the courthouse preservation and restoration project. Jost has continued to budget a token amount of only $1,000 per year for courthouse repairs and maintenance. Either he is totally incompetent or he has been intentionally trying to underfund the maintenance needs of our multi-million dollar historic courthouse building. Jost continues to do the bidding of monied interests in Owensville who still desire to move the county seat to Owensville because of their own personal financial interests. He and Lairmore attended the 8/9 GCCS meeting for no other purpose than to be able to say that they had attended the meeting and to monitor discussions among and between the membership.
You speak of "journalism", but I have never claimed to be a "journalist". This is a blog, and I do as I please on this blog. One of the things I do on this blog is criticize so-called "journalists" who publish one-sided, spin "news" reports. If you want
"journalism", don't come here. Don't go to Cheap News LIVE either unless you want spin and self-indulgence. I suggest you go to Hermann NEWS and The Hermann Advertiser-Courier for fair and balanced reporting.
Now "Anonymous", if you keep coming back here for the purpose of agitating, spinning your personal agenda and/or otherwise disrupting the peace and tranquility of this blog community, I will just stop publishing your argumentative comments.
Now "Anonymous", I'm going to bend over and you can kiss my ass!
Bye bye!
Your penpal,
Dick Schaefer
Not a Problem Dick. I'll leave you alone. Knock down another Scotch and Water, and go back to talking to yourself. I'm sure you find you get more agreeable conversations that way. As to the Ass kissing, I'll leave that to you. The way you carry on here, If Matt Penning came to a sudden stop, you would be both unable to see or breathe. You figure it out. Bye bye!
ReplyDeleteGood riddance, "Anonymous"! Don't know why you've hung around as long as you have, especially since you obviously disapprove of my reports. You'll have to admit though, the price was right! FREE! Ya just can't beat the price here at Hermann Hearsay!
ReplyDeleteWell, so long for now! I expect you'll be back like a pesky mosquito someday in the not too distant future. When you do return, I'll be prepared with a can of DEEP WOODS OFF!
Adios!
