INDEPENDENT RESEARCH: CountyNewsLIVE.com is now top-ranked website in Gasconade County

Wed, 03/10/2010 - 09:26 — J. Noedel-Publisher

An independent Internet research company which monitors worldwide web traffic daily now reports that CountyNewsLIVE.com is the #1 most-popular website in Hermann, and in Gasconade County, Missouri. This includes other news sites, chambers of commerce, B&B sites and websites run by corporations and non-profits.

We here at HermannHearsay would like to know the name and email address of that "independent Internet research company" so that we might inquire about our own ranking within Gasconade County.  We wonder how HermanNews.com, GCSoapbox.com, HermannAdvertiserCourier.com and all the many others are doing.  We suspect that our ranking is pretty darned low.  On the otherhand however, we DO know for an absolute certainty that OUR income statement is "in the black" ...... not "bleeding red ink" as we believe is the case with a couple of our "competitors".

For the time being, we'll take our low ranking and bide our time.  We'll let our competitors spend themselves into non-existence by employing large staffs, paying unjustified office lease payments and paying contractors to put up live web cams all over our small town.  Our business consultants and CPA firm project that we will have the online news market all to ourselves within two years.  And this will only serve to drive up our future market value.

  1. Check Alexa.com for rankings. Also, CountyNewsLIVE.com is nearing our break-even point. Spending lots of money, but making sales, too. Excellent advertiser support. About 100 paid subscribers, too.

  2. Alexa is the site that keeps track of traffic data: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo

  3. Does Hermannhearsay have a {Bullshit O Meter} like the other #1 rated web sight? I logged on the # 1 web sight this weekend and it showed that there was no users or guest on line. Told me that someone has the power to control the # of people that shows loged in or guest. Is this done so that you can inflate the #'s so it looks like you have a lot of readership. So can Clark Kant confirm if you also have a Bullshit O Meter, can you confirm? If so can you give us some of your Bullshit #'s! Maybe you should start beating your chest like the other # 1 web sight, after all it only seems fair!

  4. Thanks for the information regarding Alexa.com, Mr. Noedel. Some of my readers and free advertisers have been wondering about our readership and website ranking. I'm new to the journalism business, so I haven't known exactly what to tell them. Now I have a highly reliable independent source where I can go to check on my readersip numbers and relative ranking!

This data is going to be very helpful to us as we have a prospective buyer snoopin' around here "kickin' our tires" and askin' all kinds of penetratin' questions!

  5. Happy Shoveler,

Welcome to Hermann Hearsay! If I'm not sadly mistaken, this is your first comment. I hope you will come back often. We are a lowly-rated, small town website, and we need all the visitors we can get!

Regarding that "meter" for measuring the number of visitors to our site, we'd sure like to offer that feature on our site, but we just can't afford it right now. You see, our owner is a penney-pinchin' old grinch, and he says we don't need all the latest features that our competitors offer on their websites. 'Says it's just a damned crutch for good hard-nosed investigative journalism!

We've had a potential buyer snoopin' around here the past couple weeks, and we are told that he has very DEEP POCKETS. If things work out and he buys a controlling interest in our website, it may mean that we'll get a nice infusion of investment capital. And if that happens, I promise you, Happy, we will invest in a "meter" to count and display the number of visitors to our site. In fact, I'm looking at two "meters". One will show the number of visitors at any givn time. The other will be like an "odometer" on a '69 Plymouth Roadrunner and will show the cumulative number of visitors to our site. Hell, if our new owner has enough cash, I might even install a whole instrument panel full of meters, gages and cool digital LED readouts. Why, Happy, the instrumentation panel I've got in mind will put all of our competitors to shame. The damned thing will look like the instrumentation panel of a Boeing 747!

But, all of my big dreams will never happen if the cheapskate who owns our website maintains majority control.

    Thanks for your comment, Happy!
